Do you take professional photos, like realtors, lawyers, etc.?
Yes! The majority of our headshots are for business professionals who need a professional headshot for their business, their company’s website, their LinkedIn profile, a publication or book jacket. I’ve also worked with medical students on their residency application photos and job seekers on their CVS photo.

We’ll talk about the line of work you’re in and what you need the photo for, in order to create the best look that will properly represent you, your personality, and your industry.

Do you take headshots for actors, musicians, and entertainers?
Yes! The look of a headshot for an entertainer is going to be different from a corporate portrait/business headshot, but just tell us what you are looking for and we’ll make it happen.
Do you take headshots for dating?
Absolutely! In fact, many business professionals get the headshots they need for their business and then take a couple of extra for their dating profile.  For dating I recommend shooting outside the studio for a more relaxed and inviting image.
What is personal Brand Photography and how is it different from a headshot?
Great question! Personal Brand Photography is about more than just a headshot for your business page, it is about marketing YOU. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos has famously said, “Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.” We can help guide what people say by telling the story you want your viewer to know.

Visuals play a crucial role in delivering the personality of you and your brand. Place them throughout your website, keep your posts on social media updated, send out newsletters and e-blasts with updated images, even use them for articles you submit or PR. From sales pages to landing pages, fresh images lead to better conversations.

What’s the process?
First, you can use our booking system to book a day and time for your session and pay the session retainer based on the session type you’ve chosen.  Or use the contact page to get in touch with Cyndi to ask any specific questions you might have and/or call by using the hot link at the top left of the web page and she can help you book over the phone. Then decide if you would like a complimentary 10 minute phone consultation to discuss your needs, vision for your session or to help you prepare.

When you arrive to your appointment, bring some clothing to choose from (and even props if they help reflect your brand) and we’ll go over options and choose something together. We’ll take the photos, coaching you into the best smiles and poses possible, and make sure we’ve got enough photos to choose from.

Your online gallery will be ready to view within 24 hours from your session.

What should I wear?
The short answer is that it is important your look matches the image you’re trying to convey, but one very important recommendation I make to everyone is please be comfortable in what you are wearing. If you feel stiff and uncomfortable, your photos will show that.

After you have booked your session you will receive detailed instructions on what to wear in your confirmation email.  We also have a page dedicated to this topic.

How long until I get the photos delivered to me?
After your session, you’ll get a link to an online proofing gallery emailed to you typically within 24 hours. You then have three (3) days before the gallery expires to review the images and make your selections.  After you complete your purchase the digital files will be available for instant download.
Do you offer retouching?
Yes.  All your images receive basic editing for color correction, skin tone and exposure.  Additional retouching consists of more extensive work like heads swaps, background changes, glass glare removal, stray hair smoothing, and softening facial imperfections.

This service is available at $30 per image and is included in two of the digital packages at no additional cost.  Turnaround time for retouching is generally 24-48 hours.

Do I need a make-up/hair artist?

It’s totally up to you. Your headshot needs to look like your everyday you, so do your hair and makeup like you normally do it.  We especially recommend getting a makeup artist if you never wear much makeup or haven’t liked the way your self-applied makeup has looked in past photos, or if you tend to have a lot of redness or rosacea that needs to be color-corrected with makeup for a photo. 

At this time we do not have a makeup artist available, but one suggestion is to make an appointment at Sephora and they will fix you right up!

 

Do you use natural or studio light?

Both! Our most popular 30 minute session includes both studio light and backdrops for better control, and natural light options outside our space. We’ll talk together at the session about the best look for the photo and what would work better for you. If you need the photo taken in a specific location (a realtor might want their photo taken at a listing, or an architect with their office/drafting table in the background, for example), then we recommend our Persoanl Brand session.

 

Do I get different poses and facial expressions? Will you coach me into different poses and facial expressions?
Yes and yes! You will be coached into several different poses and smiles from several different angles to make sure we’ve got some great photos and lots of different options. You’ll never be dropped in front of the camera and expected to “perform.” You will be given LOTS of helpful direction.

My style is very informal, we chat, laugh, tell stories.  It is rather like visiting a friend that just happens to be taking your portrait.

 

Is your studio a retail or home studio? Is there parking?

The studio is actually in a separate building behind my home.  It is conveniently located off Hwy 80 near the Richmond/El Cerrito border.  Plenty of street parking is available.

If you need public transportation, we are about 1 mile from the Del Norte Bart station and there is a bus stop around the corner.

Do you sell prints?
We do have printing available if needed. You can order individual prints of your photos through your online gallery after the session.
